SPORT BEZ BARIER
WE ARE ALL ATHLETES

Foundation

We promote inclusivity and equality in sports, bringing together individuals with different physical and intellectual abilities. We organize rugby tournaments and training for children with disabilities, showing that sports are for everyone.

Wheelchair Rugby

Wheelchair Rugby is a dynamic team sport that allows individuals with physical disabilities to compete on equal terms. Due to its growing popularity, more and more people are gaining the opportunity to actively participate in sports competition, developing their physical and interpersonal skills.

What we do

Mixed Ability Sports is a concept that promotes the inclusion of people with different levels of physical and intellectual ability in joint sporting competition, with no division into ability categories. The idea is that everyone, regardless of ability, should be able to participate in regular sports on an equal basis. This gives people with disabilities the opportunity to train and compete together with non-disabled athletes, in an atmosphere of mutual support, understanding and respect. Above all, Mixed Ability Sports aims to reduce social barriers, integrate and develop the physical and interpersonal skills of participants. Here, sport plays a role as a tool to change social attitudes, drawing attention to equality and diversity. Through joint training and games, participants learn cooperation, perseverance and how to overcome their own limitations, which has an impact not only on their physical health, but also on their personal development and self-esteem.

One foundation that actively supports the development of Mixed Ability Sports is International Mixed Ability Sports (IMAS). Established in the UK, the foundation aims to promote the idea of sport that is accessible to all, regardless of fitness level. IMAS is involved in a number of sports, including rugby, which has become one of the most recognisable sports in the format. Mixed Ability Rugby, supported by IMAS, is highly successful internationally, hosting competitions such as the Mixed Ability Rugby World Cup, which attracts teams from all over the world, promoting the idea of barrier-free sport.

Thanks to the support of IMAS, thousands of people around the world can experience the benefits of physical activity, inclusion and respectful relationship building.

„Sport bez barier” Foundation is part of IMAS!

Together with the University of Florence, we participate in the EU project ‘Rugby is beautiful’, which is dedicated precisely to the inclusivity of sport.

Our foundation, together with the Sopot rugby club ‘Ogniwo’, runs the OBB project, in which children with various disabilities play rugby. In 2022, the first Mixed Ability tournament in Poland was held. More than 80 children took part!

Together with the Special School Complex No. 5 in Sopot, we organise activities for children with special needs and from September 2024 we also introduced wheelchair rugby training.

The Foundation is helping to change the perception of sport and people with disabilities, proving that true championship is not about winning, but about cooperation, mutual support and enjoyment of the game.
